What is Category D?

Category D includes cars designed and built to carry more than eight passengers, excluding the driver. These cars may be coupled to a trailer with a maximum permissible mass not exceeding 750 kg.

What are categories D1, D1E and DE?

• Category D1 . Category D1 includes motor vehicles which are designed and constructed to carry no more than sixteen passengers, excluding the driver, and which are not more than 8 metres long. These motor vehicles may be coupled to trailers with a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 750 kg.

• Category D1E . Category D1E includes combinations of category D1 cars and trailers with a maximum permissible mass exceeding 750 kg.

• Category DE . Category DE includes combinations of category D cars and trailers with a maximum permissible mass exceeding 750 kg.

Price for category D, DE

• Driving practice learning . This is the stage that makes up the largest part of the price. When learning practical driving, you will have to drive for 15 academic hours at a driving school and this will cost you from 400 Eur.

What are the requirements for categories D, D1, D1E, DE?

There are 2 general requirements and separate age requirements for category groups for obtaining categories D, D1, D1E and DE. The 2 general requirements are given below:

• Previous categories. In order to obtain a driving license for categories D, D1, it is necessary to have previously obtained a driving license for category B , and in order to drive vehicles in categories D1E and DE, it is necessary to have previously obtained vehicles in categories D1 and D, respectively.

• Required documents : In order to take the theory exam for categories D, D1, D1E, DE at "Regitra", you will be required to submit a medical certificate, a first aid course certificate, and an identity document.

Age requirements for categories D, D1, D1E and DE

• Categories D, DE. The minimum age from which it is permitted to acquire the right to drive vehicles of categories D, DE is 24 years, except for persons who have acquired the initial professional qualification for the carriage of passengers in accordance with the established procedure. You can acquire the right to drive vehicles of categories D, DE from the age of 18, if you have previously acquired the initial professional qualification for the carriage of passengers in motor vehicles (8-week course) or from the age of 21, if you have previously acquired the initial professional qualification for the carriage of passengers in motor vehicles in an urgent manner (4-week course).

• Categories D1, D1E. The minimum age from which it is allowed to acquire the right to drive a category D1, D1E is 21 years, except for persons who have acquired the initial professional qualification for transporting passengers in accordance with the established procedure. From the age of 18, you can acquire the right to drive vehicles of categories D1, D1E, if you have previously acquired the initial professional qualification for transporting passengers in motor vehicles (8-week course).
