Regitra questions – 20 questions before the practical exam 2025

Anyone seeking to obtain the right to drive a category B car must answer 3 questions about the maintenance of the car's devices, technical condition, etc. at the beginning of the driving practice exam. These are "Registry" questions, of which there are 20 in total (for category B). Each of these unanswered questions is marked as a non-critical error, so if you do not answer all three, you will receive 3 non-critical errors. During the exam, you can make no more than 8 non-critical errors and no critical and specific recurring errors.

These questions and answers are definitely worth remembering, because this will not only help you better understand how your car's devices work, but will also increase your chances of successfully passing your practical exam.

These questions and answers from the Registry are directly related to KET tickets , as they cover the basic knowledge and skills that drivers must have in order to safely and properly operate a vehicle.

We present all 20 possible questions before the practice exam and the answers to them below.

Regitra questions – 20 questions before the practical exam 2025

Category B 20 questions before the "Regitra" practice exam

  1. Explain how you will check whether the oil level in the engine is sufficient.

The oil level in the vehicle can be checked by parking the vehicle on a level surface and with the engine cold. After removing the dipstick and cleaning it, it is put back in its place. After removing it again, check that the oil level is between the MAX and MIN marks.

  1. Demonstrate or explain how you would check to see if the power steering is working.

With the engine off, when you try to turn the steering wheel, it will be difficult to turn. After starting the engine, the steering wheel should turn easily. If the steering wheel continues to turn with difficulty, the power steering is faulty or missing.

  1. Explain how you will check the fluid level in the engine cooling system.

The coolant expansion tank is transparent, and the liquid can be as many as four colors: yellow, pink, green or blue. If the car is hybrid, there may be two expansion tanks: one for the internal combustion engine, the other for the electric motor-converter.

  1. Explain how you will check if the parking brake is working.

When you apply or pull the parking brake, you should feel strong resistance when trying to move. If the parking brake is pulled, pull it until you hear 3-4 clicks. If the parking brake is applied, lift or press the brake switch. You can also check how the parking brake works in another way, i.e. when stopping on an uphill or downhill slope, put the gear in neutral, apply or pull the parking brake. When you release the service brake pedal, the car should not roll.

  1. Explain where to pour window washer fluid.

This tank, located under the hood, is often out of sight. However, you can easily find its bright blue cap with the symbol of a window and a current flowing through it.

If the windshield washer fluid reservoir is clearly visible, this can be done by visually inspecting it. If this is not possible, you need to pull the windshield wiper lever and hold it (remember to start the engine first or at least turn the ignition key so that the indicator lights come on).

  1. Show how you will check if the warning sound is working.

This can be done by pressing the area marked with the horn symbol on the steering wheel.

  1. Explain how you will check to see if the brake fluid level is sufficient for safe driving.

This reservoir is located directly in front of the brake pedal and is very small. It has a special symbol on it.

There are two types of reservoir: transparent reservoir - easy to check by two marks, i.e. MAX and MIN, between which the required brake fluid level should be. If the reservoir is opaque, the lid has a gauge with MAX and MIN marks.

  1. Explain how you will check if the turn signals are working.

To check, you need to start the engine or at least turn on the ignition (turn the ignition key so that the indicator lights come on). When you press the turn signal knob up or down, the indicator lights will start flashing. You will need to check if the turn signals are working after getting out. If the indicator light flashes twice as often when you press the knob (on the side you pressed), there is a malfunctioning light on that side, either front or rear.

  1. Explain how you will check if the brake light signals are working.

To check, you will need help, i.e. while one person presses the brake pedal, another person will monitor whether the brake lights come on. If there is no help, you can place some heavier object (fire extinguisher) on the brake pedal, then you will not need an assistant. In the dark, you can reverse the car closer to a wall and monitor whether the “Stop” lights come on through the rear-view mirror.

  1. Explain how you will check whether the service brake is working.

If the brake system is in good condition, the brake pedal should not be depressed more than half way after starting the engine. If the brake pedal is depressed all the way, but when repeated (by pressing the pedal several more times) it starts to brake with less and less pressure on the pedal - there is air in the vehicle's brake system.

  1.  Explain how you will check that all the lights are working.

First, you need to check whether the side lights are working. This should be done by turning the light knob one notch (the engine does not need to be started). After getting out of the vehicle, check whether the side lights are on at the front of the car, then do the same at the back, and most importantly, when you are at the back of the car, do not forget to check whether the rear license plate lights are working. After turning on the ignition or starting the engine, turn on the dipped headlights (remember - there are no dipped headlights) and check if they are working after getting out. After switching to the main headlights, check whether they are on (remember - there are no main headlights). You will be informed that you have turned on the main headlights by a blue light on the dashboard.

  1. Explain where you will look for information about recommended tire pressure.

You can find this information by opening the fuel filler flap of your vehicle or on the driver's door pillar. The information leaflet contains information about what tire pressure should be maintained when the vehicle is lightly loaded or when it is at its maximum permissible weight.

  1. Explain how you will check the air pressure in your tires.

MANOMETER. This is a device that can be used to measure the air pressure in tires. And this is the name of the device that is most difficult to remember. The manometer is pressed against the tire valve and held. On the instrument panel, you will see how much pressure is in the tire. The required pressure for a passenger car ranges from 2 to 2.5 bars or pascals.

  1. Explain how you will check whether the tread depth of your tires is sufficient for safe driving.

Tire tread depth is checked using a special device or caliper.

Better quality tires often have indicator stripes that become invisible as the tires wear.

  1. Explain how you will check whether the overall condition of the tires is suitable for safe driving.

The condition of the tires can be checked visually, that is, by looking at whether the tires are wearing evenly, whether there are any bumps or cuts. The tire's wear can be used to judge the tire pressure.

  1. Explain how you will check if the emergency light alarm is working.

After activating the emergency alarm button, inspect all emergency lights after getting out.

  1.  Tell me, how will you determine if there is a malfunction in the anti-lock braking system (ABS)?

The ABS warning light on the dashboard will notify us of a malfunction in the anti-lock braking system. When the car ignition is turned on, the warning lights on the dashboard will light up, including the ABS system, after a few seconds the ABS light should go out, which means that there is no malfunction in the ABS system. If the other warning lights go out, and the ABS light continues to shine, this means that there is a malfunction in the system and the system is not working.

  1. Demonstrate how you will check whether the front and rear (if equipped) window washer system is working.

The window washer lever is located on the right side of the steering wheel. If the washer system is working, when you pull it towards you, you will hear the sound of a motor and fluid will start to flow.

The rear window washer system is activated with the same right-hand lever. There are several possible spray modes: intermittent, continuous (slow), continuous (fast).

  1. Show how to turn on the rear window heating.

To turn on the rear window heating, press the heating button. The button has a rectangular window and rising air currents – a curving arrow pointing upwards (do not confuse this button with the front window defroster button).

  1. Show or tell how to lock and unlock the steering wheel lock.

To lock the central steering lock, you need to turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition switch. Then, when turning the steering wheel to the left or right, you will hear a clicking sound and you will no longer be able to turn the steering wheel. To unlock the steering lock, you need to insert the ignition key into the ignition switch and turn the steering wheel left and right in short movements at the same time, turn the ignition key and the steering lock should unlock. If the car does not have an ignition key, then by pressing the start button together with the clutch depressed, the steering lock will automatically unlock and the car will start.

By memorizing these questions and answers, you will feel confident and strong from the very beginning of your driving test at "Regitra". After calmly answering the questions, you will continue your driving test by driving on the streets, where your practical road traffic awareness and driving skills will be tested. Good luck in preparing for and taking your driving test!

Yes, before the exam begins, 3 questions will be asked.

Yes, the exam will be considered failed if you do not answer these questions.

Our KET tests and revising the Road Traffic Rules will help you better prepare for the Regitra theory exam.

Absolutely not. Firstly, it is prohibited (during the exam), as braking only with service brakes can overheat the brake pads and discs. Also, modern cars do not save fuel when coasting in neutral, but actually consume more.
