If you want to obtain a driving license in Lithuania, you must first complete two important steps – pass the theoretical and practical driving exams at the state company “Regitra”. These exams will show whether you are ready to drive on the roads, whether you know the traffic rules well, and whether you can participate in traffic safely. The driving theory test questions (KET tickets) are an essential part of preparing for the theoretical exam, which is necessary before the practical driving test. By practicing the theory questions, you can effectively learn and review the traffic rules. Once you successfully pass the theory exam, you will be able to take the “Regitra” practical driving exam, which we will discuss below.

While still studying driving theory (or having successfully passed the theory exam at Regitra), you can start preparing for the driving test at a driving school. You will have 30 mandatory academic hours (for category B) of practical driving school, and then a school driving test. After passing the school driving test, you will also be able to take the practical driving test at the State Enterprise Regitra. Not everyone manages to successfully pass the exams the first time, so don't be afraid to take additional lessons so that you are confident in your abilities when taking the Regitra driving test.
You will be required to prepare for the practical driving test at a driving school, where you will have to complete at least 30 academic hours in total with a driving instructor. The driving instructor will first teach you the mandatory driving maneuvers on the site, and then you will drive on city streets and on routes approved by the State Enterprise "Regitra".
You will learn to drive in a specially prepared vehicle , which is equipped with additional pedals for the instructor, so that he can brake for you or perform other maneuvers if necessary.
After completing the mandatory 30 academic hours of driving, you will be required to pass a school driving test at your driving school. If you fail the first time, you can retake the test. The school driving test is a great time to prepare for the "Regitra" test and find out your driving strengths and weaknesses.
The school exam/course completion certificate has no expiration date. This means that after passing the driving test at school, you will have an unlimited period of time to pass the practical test at the "Regitra". It is important to remember that a successfully passed theory test at the "Regitra" is valid for one year, during which you must pass the practical driving test at the "Regitra".
You can take the "Regitra" driving test if you have successfully passed the driving theory test at "Regitra", completed the required number of practical driving hours at a driving school with an instructor, and passed the school driving test.
The practical driving test lasts up to 90 minutes .
You can register for the exam in 3 ways, which are listed below:
Online. By registering online, you will be able to register for exams, cancel your registration, change the date and time of exams, view schedules and information about exams you have taken.
By phone +370 700 55151. You can only register for the exam or cancel it by phone.
At the "Registry" branch. When registering for exams at the "Registry" branch, you will need to present your identity document.

A, A1, A2 – 77.90 EUR ;

C – 89.54 EUR ;
CE – 94.54 EUR.
Other prices apply when you arrive to take your driving test with your own vehicle. For exact prices, see the "Regitra" website.
Arrival, document verification. It is advisable to arrive at least 30 minutes before the exam. Upon arrival at the customer service hall, take your queue number and wait until it is your turn to present your identity document, fill out an application and pay for the practical exam. Later, you will be met by the examiner and, after confirming your identity, you will be taken to the car. The examiner, car and parking method are selected randomly.
Car. You will take the driving test for a passenger car (category B) in a "Regitra" car, and you can take the exams for categories C, CE or A1, A2 in your own vehicle. As with the school exam, "Regitra" cars for the exam have additional pedals for the examiner.
Familiarization with the exam process. Once you get into the car, the examiner will familiarize you with the exam process and the devices. Before starting the practical driving test, you will be able to try driving, adjusting the seat, steering wheel, seat belt, and mirrors.
Questions. Before the practical driving test, the examiner will ask you 3 questions related to road safety and car operation. You can find all possible questions in the Register of Legal Acts.
Driving. The practical test consists of street driving and special maneuvers. The examiner will ask you to perform several special driving maneuvers while driving. The driving test will take place on the street, in real traffic conditions.
Filming. The practical exam is filmed.
End of the exam. After completing the scheduled route and returning to the "Registry" site, you will immediately find out whether you passed the exam and how many and what mistakes you made.
When you arrive for the practical exam, please bring the following documents with you:
Personal identification document;
Driver's medical certificate (medical institutions provide only electronic medical certificates, which Regitra receives automatically).
Also, before you arrive for the exams, your driving school must transfer data to the "Regitra" about the completed training. Of course, before that, you must also have passed the "Regitra" theory exam.
3 types of errors can be recorded during the practice exam:
Non-critical – an action that demonstrates an insufficient level of skill of the examinee, but does not in itself pose a threat to any road user or interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle;
Specific repetitive – six non-critical errors while performing the same assessed action;
Critical – an action that demonstrates an inappropriate level of ability or carelessness of the examinee towards other road users. It may also pose or pose a threat to road users, or may interfere with or interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle.
In order to pass the exam, you can make no more than 8 non-critical errors and no critical and specific repeated errors. There are many possible non-critical and critical errors during the driving test. You can familiarize yourself with all of them in the Register of Legal Acts.
